he had any and what were his proposals in respect to the accommodating
the point in contest he voluntarily made and signed the following Offers
(vizt) Proposals for an Agreement offered and submitted to the Consideration
of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex by
Joseph Nightingale< no role > of Saint John Street in the County of Middlesex
aforesaid Carpenter in respect of a piece of Ground on the South Side of
New Prison Garden The said Mr Nightingale proposes to take a Lease
for any Number of Years of a piece of Ground on the South side of New
Prison Garden extending in length from East to West Sixty seven Feet
or thereabouts which commensuration begins from the East end of a
Timber Building in the possession of Mr Nightingale and continues
Westward Sixty seven Feet or thereabouts and which said piece of
Ground contains in breath from North to South one foot ten Inches on
which said piece of ground a Brick Wall now stands together with the
use of the said Wall 2ndly. Mr Nightingale further proposes to have a Recess
or Piece of Ground vacant, in front of the Prison (now in his possession)
of the length of Thirty two feet and six Inches running Southward from the
Front of the said Prison and four feet in breadth from West to East being
fourteen feet and two Inches from the centre of the Intended Gateway
of the said Prison to the East side of the said Ground Dated the 6th day of
February 1774. The Committee recommend it to the Justices assembled
to agree to Mr Nightingales proposal.

Which Report being read It is Ordered that that part of the said Report
which respects the ways and means of raising a sufficient sum of Money for the
repair of Hicks Hall be and the same is hereby postponed to the County day of the
next Session. But the Court doth agree to the other parts of the said Report (vizt) The
payment of the Surveyors employed to view the boundary Walls belonging to New Prison
with respect to Mr Crawfords Memorial concerning this encroachment on the boundary
Walls of Clerkenwell Bridwell , The insurance of the Building belonging to the County
from casually by Fire, The Provision of Things proper for the Celebration of Divine
