An Order of the 15 January 1729 made on the
Report of the Committee appointed 4th. December 1729 to consider the
state of the Haymarket and the Treasurers accounts in which report
it is said That the Haymarket was in a very ruinous condition
thd of late large Sums had been Expended to maintain the same
in repair that upon Examination of the Accounts of Lord William
Powlett< no role > deceased and John Ellis< no role > Esqr . of Surviving Treasurer of the
Haymarket from Midsummer 1725 to Christmas 1729 which
time the Accounts of the Treasurers were last past it was found that
the Money in hand and the Toll since Midsummer 1725 amounted
to £479 out of which had been paid in part of Mrs. Offleys demand
£22..8s..11d. a further part of £20. that there had been laid out in repair
within the said time £400..0s..6d of which there was still remaining
due and unsatisfied a Debt to Mr. Brown the Paviour of £78..3s..0d
that the person employed by the said Treasurer had been allowed
