Order of Session declaring
Treasurer ship vacant and
to settle Account with
Mr Higgs Executors}

This Court being Informed that John Higgs< no role > Gentleman late Treasurer
of this County and also Treasurer or Receiver of the Rents of the Lands and.
Tenements the Estate belonging to this County departed this life on or about
the fourteenth day of this Instant May doth Declare the said Offices to be
vacant and doll appoint James Jefferson< no role > of Chancery Lane in the County
of Middlesex Gentleman County Treasurer and also Treasurer or Receiver
of the said County rents in the room and Stead of the said Mr. Higgs untile
a Treasurer and receiver shall be appointed according to the Rules and order
of the sessions And this Court doth further order that it be and it is hereby
Recommended and refered to Thomas Lane< no role > Bartholemew Hammond< no role >
Benjamin Cowley< no role > Thomas Owens< no role > John Brettell< no role > John Hawkins< no role > William
Godfey John smart< no role > John spencer< no role > Colepeper Elisha Biseve< no role > Thomas Scott< no role >
William Timbrell< no role > Robert Darling< no role > and Christopher Scott< no role > Esqrs . and such other
of his Majestys Justices of the Peace for this County as shall please to be
present or any two or more of them to meet together at Hicks Hall or some
other convenient Place on some day before the next Session to take & examine
the account of the Executor or legal representative of the said Mr. Higgs of all
Monies received and paid by the said Mr. Higgs in his life time since his
last account as such Treasurer and Receiver And in Case a Ballance
shall be found due to the County Stock the same is to be paid over to the
said James Jefferson< no role > whose receipt together with the order shall be a
Sufficient discharge to the said Representative and if the Ballance shall
be found in favour of the Estate of the said Mr. Higgs then the said James.
Jefferson is hereby authorized and required to pay the same to the said
Representative out of the Proper Stock of this County taking a receipt
for the same to be allowed in his first account as Treasurer or received
And it is hereby further ordered that the said Representatives do
forthwith deliver over to the said Justices who shall Examine the
said Account or to the Clerk of the Peace of the said County or his
Deputy all the Accounts and Vouchers and other Books Papers &
writings belonging to this County and remaining in his Hands
as Treasurer or receiver as aforesaid at the time of his Decease And.
the said Justices are desired to make their report of the matters aforesd.
at the next Sessions on the County day of the same Sessions.
