An Account of Inquisitions being produced before this Court by Edward
Umfreville< no role > Esquire one of the Coroner s of this County therein mentioning
the same to be taken on View of Dead Bodies in the said County before the
said Coroner since the Tenth day of January One thousand seven Hundred
and fifty four and chargeable on the said County pursuant to an Act of
Parliament made in the twenty fifth Year of the reign of King George the
second Intituled An Act for giving a proper Reward to Coroners
for the due Execution of their Office and for the Amount of
Coroners upon a Lawfull Conviction for certain Misdemeanors which
Account begins on the Nineteenth day of January aforesaid and ends on
the fifteenth day of May instant therein mentioning the Dead Bodies
Viewed to be fifteen in Number and that there is due to the said Coroner
the Sum of Eighteen pounds and three Shillings for his Coroners Fee
and for the Number of Miles by him travelled on Account of taking the
said Inquisitions And it appearing to this Court by Writing under the
Hands of Barthlomew Hammond< no role > and Francis Bedwell< no role > Esquires two
of his Majestys Justices of the peace for the said County that they had
Examined the said Account and did allow of the same It is thereupon
Ordered by this Court that Mr. John Higgs< no role > Treasurer of this County
do pay the said Sum of Eighteen pounds and three Shillings to the said
Edward Umfreville< no role > Coroner in full of his said Demand whose receipt
together with this Order shall be a Sufficient Discharge to the said
Treasurer for such payment.

Answer to the
Claim to sit at
the old Bailey .

This day Thomas Lane< no role > Esqr . one of the Justices of peace appointed last Sessions to wait
on the Lord Mayor of London with a Complaint from this Sessions made his Report
Ore tenns That he together with Sir John Crosse< no role > & Mr. Cooke attended the Lord Mayor on the
Matter of the said Complaint and received the following Answer from the Lord Mayor< no role >
That being informed of our designed Visit and the Intent of it he had discoursed several of his
Brothren the Aldermen about it That it was agreed Orders should be given to the Door
Keepers and other Servants of the Court to admit the Justices of the peace into the Court
and on the East Side of the Bench without any delay or Obstruction That he should the
first day of next Sessions himself give such express Orders and that it was the desire
and design of this Court of Old Baily to treat the Justices of Peace for Middx with
all due regard and respect That they hoped this would be sufficient to satisfy the
Gentlemen without entring into the Question of Claim or Right.
