Matter, This Court being Satisfyed of the Truth
of the Premisses Doth Order that the said
Elizabeth James< no role >
be, and She is hereby dischar-
-ged from being Matron of the said House of
Correction, And upon the Humble Petition of the
said Mary Best< no role >
preferred to this Court, praying
that this Court will be pleased to appoint her the

to be Matron of the said House
of Correction, This Court doth Nominate & appoint
the aforesaid Mary Best< no role >

place & Stead of the said Elizabeth James< no role >
, To have
hold Execute and Enjoy the said Office place or
Employment of Matron And also to have & to
held the Rooms & Appartment with the appurtenance
in the said House and all priviledges & Advantages
belonging to, or heretofore Enjoyed by the Matron
of the said House, Together with the Sallary of ten
pounds a year which is hereby Ordered to be
allowed to the said MaryHenryBest< no role >
as Matron of
the said House for her trouble & pains in and
about the performance of her Buisiness as Matron
of the said House, and payable by the Keeper of
New prison
at Clerkenwell
During so long time
only as the Justices of the peace
of this County or
the Major part of them shall think fitt, which yearly
Sallary is to be paid to her during her Continuance
in the said Office or Employment as Matron by the
Keeper
of New prison
aforesaid by Quarterly payments
(to wit) at Christmas Lady Day Midsummer and
Michas the first Quarterly payment to be made to
her on Christmas Day now next Ensuing, which yearly
Salary the present Keeper of New prison
is by the
Tenor of his Admission as Keeper obliged to pay
as hath been heretofore done by the Former
