Order of Recomendacon
for Justices of peace in
their respective Divisions
to give Shict charge to
Constables, Churchwardns.
& Overseers of the poor to
raise & pay the publick
money Etc}

Whereas a great many Constables, Churchwardens and
Overseers of the poor of divers parishes, hamlets and places in
this County have been very negligent and remiss is not
raiseing the publick moneys assessed by the Courts of General
Quarter and General Sessions of the peace holden for the Said
County upon Such parishes hamlets and places for releife of
maimed Soldiers and Mariners, for the Marshalsea Kings
Bench and Hospitalls, for the passing and releiving of Vagrants
and for repairing of the publick Bridges of this County, which
moneys they ought to have raised and ought from time to
time forthwith to raise after receipt of the respective precepts
issued forth for that purpose from the high Constables of the
Division or District wherein Such parishes, hamlets or places
doe Lye, And alsoe to pay Such moneys (after their receipt
thereof) to Such high Constables that he may pay over the Same
unto the proper Treasurers or Treasurer to whom the Same are
payable, And that by the neglect aforesaid considerable Sumes
of money Ordered to be raised for the purposes aforesaid are
yet in arreare and unpaid, Now to the intent that Such
publick moneys as aforesaid may for the future be more
effectually raised, and paid over to the proper Treasurers or
Treasurer It is Ordered by this Court that it be And It is hereby
recomended and referred unto his Maties Justices of the peace for
this County residing or acting within the respective Divisions in
the Said County from time to time to give Shict charge to the
Constables Church wardens and Overseers of the poor of the
Several parishes hamlets and places within their respective
Divisions at the Several or petty Sessions to be holden in Such
Divisions or at other convenient times that they forthwith
assess levy and collect all Such publick moneys already Ordered
or which hereafter may be Ordered to be raised for the purposes
aforesaid or any of them, and for raiseing of which they or any
of them Shall receive any precept or precepts from the high
Constable of the Division or District wherein Such parishes
hamlets or places lye And that after receipt thereof they
forthwith pay the Same to Such high Constable who is to pay
over the Same to the proper Treasurers or Treasurer, And that if the
Said Constables Church wardens & Overseers of the poor or any of
them Shall make default in the premisses they will be
presented & proceeded against for Such their default as the
