Whereas by one Act of Parliament made in the third Year of the
sign of present Majesty King George Intituled an Act for repairing
the highways from several plates therein mentioned leading
towards Highgate Gatehouse and Hampstead in the County of
Middlesex and for electing Trustees for Keeping up a sufficient
Number of the repairing the Highways upon the Roads from
Highgate Gatehouse to Barnett Blockhouse and also of the
highways between Kilburn bridge and Sparrows Horne in the
County of Hertford, The Justices of the peace for the County of
Middx are empowered at their respective Generall Quarter
Sessionsof the peaceholden for the said County Yearly and
every Year after the first day of June One Thousand seven
hundred and seventeen (if they think fit) to appoint one or
more fit person or persons to Survey and View the ruinous
highways or roads directed to be amended by the said Act,
and to inquire of the Dutys and Toll received in pursuance
of the said Act, And in case they find any misapplicacon
of the Moneys levyed by the said Act or any abuses of
the power & authority granted to the Trustees therein named
they are thereupon to certify the same to the Justices of
the peace at their Generall Quarter Sessionsof the peace
to be holden for the said County of Middx who are by the said Act
authorized and empowered to hear examin and finally
determin the same without further or other appeale And
Whereas upon information given into his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace for the County of Middx at the Generall
Quarter Sessions of the peace holden for the same County
by adjornmt. on the twenty second day of April last that
neither the said Trustees nor their Clerks or Agents nor
any of them had accompted before any of his Majesty's
Justices of the peace for the same County for the moneys
received on accompt of the Toll paid for repair of the said
highways or given them any accompt how the same had
been applyed, It was by Order then made at the same
Generall Quarter Sessions recommended and referred into
