the repaire of the
pavemt. before the
play house in the
Haymarkett ,

Upon complaint made to this Court by severall
persons who are servants or Agents to sd. John
Vanbrugh< no role > Knt . that the pavemt. in the Haymarkett
before the Play house there, is greatly out of repaire
And that the Justices of the peace of this County are
obliged to repaire the same, And upon heareing
of what was insisted on by Mr. Edward Linney< no role >
Pavien who informed this Court that ever since
the building of the sd. play house the pavemt.
before the same hath been repaired by the 5d. Sr.
John Vanbrugh< no role > & the proprietors. of the sd. play house
& their Agents at his owne charge, And that in
consideracon thereof few or noecarts with hay or
straw ever stand before upon the pavemt. before the
said play house, and that the want of repaire
of the said pavemt. is cheifly occasioned by the
great resort of coaches that come to the sd. playhouse
It is recomended & referred by this Court to
John Milner< no role > This name instance is in set 4214. Esqr . one of his Maties. Justices of the
peace for this County to discourse the sd. Sr. John
Vanbrugh touching the repaire of the sd. pavemt.
before the play house, and to inform him in
what manner the same hath been hitherto repaired
and how far the Justices of the peace of this
County are obliged by Act of parliamt. to
repaire the Haymarkett And that in their
Judgmt. the said playhouse is a Nusance, and
ought not to be continued, And after such
discourse had the 5d. Mr. Milner is desired to
report his opinion therein to his Maties. Justice
of the peace for this County,
