Richard Armstrong< no role > of Cliffords Inn London Clerk
to Mr. Brown Solicitor for the Prosecutors maketh Oath
that he went on Sunday last to the House of Isaac Jesurun
Alvares
< no role > Esquire at Hackney to desire his Attendance as a
Witness for the said Prosecutors on the Tryal of this Indictment,
this Day, on a Supposition that the Defendant might be tried
sometime this Day, when this Deponent received the Answer
in Writing from the said Mr. Alvares which is hereunto
annexed And this Deponent further saith he hath been to
the House of Eleanor Roberts< no role > at Hackney aforesaid to give
her Notice to attend also when he was informed by the said
Eleanor Roberts< no role > that she was with Child and had lately
received a Hurt from a Cow which made it impossible for
her to come to London without great Danger And this Deponent
saith he is advised the said Isaac Jesurun Alvares< no role > and
Eleanor Roberts< no role > are both material Witnesses for the said Prosecutors
upon the Tryal of this Indictment without whose Testimony
they cannot safely proceed to the Tryal thereof And this
Deponent saith he hath been informed that an Indictment was
preferred against one William Hicks< no role > another material Witness for
the said Prosecutors for Perjury in his Evidence upon the Tryal
of one of the other Defendants in this Indictment at the last
Session for this City and returned "Not found" and that another
Indictment for the like Offence hath been preferred at the
present Session against the said Hicks and returned "a true
Bill" and that the Prosecutors are desirous that the said Hicks
shall take his Tryal upon such last mentioned Indictment
before the abovenamed Defendant is tried and lastly this Deponent saith he yesterday Evening served the abovenamed Defendant with a true Copy of the Notice also hereunto annexed by
delivering the same to Mr. Akerman the Keeper of Newgate who in this Deponents Presence delivered it to Mr. Pitt
the Turnkey of they said Prison.
