The joint and several Informations of Anthony Harding< no role > and
Henry Dye< no role > servants to Messrs Ashby and Osborne of Holborn Bridges in
the City of London Linen Drapers , and Thomas Ashby< no role > of the same Place
Partner with Joseph Osborne< no role > , taken before me George Mackenzie< no role >
Macaulay Esquire , one of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for
the said City, Who, being upon Oath, severally say, And First the
said Anthony Harding< no role > for himself saith that on Saturday last the Third
day of this Month, the Prisoners now under Examination Catherine Johnson< no role >
and Ann Smith< no role > came into his said Master's Shop, between the Hours of
eleven and twelve o'Clock in the Forenoon and asked to me some Muslins
which were shewn them, but they did not buy any: they then asked for
some Patches, which were also shewn them, but not agreeing as to the
Price, they quitted the ShopSaith that suspecting the Prisoner Catherine
Johnson had stolen something, he desired the other Informant Henry Dye< no role >
to follow and bring both the Prisoners back, which he didsaith that on
their returning to the Shop he saw the other Informant take from the
Floor the two Pieces of Printed Callies now producedSaith the Prisoners
were then taken into the Back Shop when One Prisoner Catherine Johnson< no role >
begged they would let her go that they had got their Goods again and that she had never robbed them before: [..]
Saith that he sent for a Constable ad Charged them both into Custody
Saith that he verily believes the Prisoners both came into the said Shop with Inteal
to Steal. And the said Henry Dye< no role > for himself saith that
on being desired by the other Informant Anthony Harding< no role > to Follow the
Prisoners and being them Boat, he did so and on their entering the Shop
they were desired to walk backwardsSaith that when the Prisoner Johnson
came to the Middle of the Shop, he observed her Hand in her Petticoats
Saith that she went up to the Counter when a Number of Peices of Callies
were laying and attempted to pull them on the FloorSaith that at that
Instant he saw the two Peices of Callis now produced Fall from under the
Petticoats of the Prisoner Johnson.who fall on her King and begged to be
let or, an it was the first Sums, and their Pacpoot was bacbond

That he immediately took them up, and Found them quite warm.

And the said Thomas Ashby< no role > for himself saith
That he was from Home when the Fact as above was committed, which
he was informed of when he came back, and the two Pieces of Callico
so stolen as aforesaid were shewn to him which he know to be the
Property of himself and his said Partner Joseph Asborne< no role >
