Saith that between five and Six years ago he deserted
the Lisbon Man of War
. That he this Examinant went
from on Board the Belmont East Indiaman on Board
the Sceptre. That he this Examinant is not the person
who brought the Will Home. That last Friday Night was
Sennight he this Examinant was at the Cock in Dyer
Street Saint Giles with George Wood< no role >
, and were drinking
and talking about different Ship-Masters, That Hannah
Mullens was then in the same Room as this Exami-
nant and the said Wood, and that the said Mullens
asked the said Wood and this Examinant if they Knew
the Ship Burford. That he this Examinant replied he
know it very well. That the said Mullens told this Exami-
-nant she had a Will that was brought Home by somebody
belonging to the said Ship Burford but that she the said
Mullens could not find the Person that brought the said Will
That the said Mullens asked this Examinant if he was
abroad
at the same Time as the Burford was at Madrass
Examinant replied and that the said Ship Burford
was along Side or Sterne of the Ship this Examinant
was on Board of. That the said Mullens then sayd that
she could not get Payment by Virtue of the said Will within
sent producing the Man thatthebrought it to England
and the said Mullens further sayd if any person woul'd go
with her (Mullens) and say that he brought the said Well to
England
she could get Payment thereby, as she could find the
real Person that brought the same will Home, and that he
this Examinant replied that doing such a Thing might
