On August ye 24: 1785 Henry More< no role > and John Houghton< no role >
entire Straingers to me came and said that for the sum of ten
Guineas they would take me out of the Prison of the
fleet where I am now a prisoner I told them I had been a
Bankrupt and that I had Conform'd my self to all the Cla [..]
now in force against Bankrupts, they said that by Summons
my Plantiff or his Attorneys before a Baron of the [..]
as my Action is in that Court, they would by [..]
me my discharge, on the 24 day of August [..] said Henry [..]
six Shillings for three Summons as he said he must serve the
Summons's one on the Clerk in Court, one on the Attorneys
one on the Plantiff, on the 25 of August, they Came a Second
time and said that they had attended at the Barons Chamber
and every thing was right and that I must give them Eaight
Shillings for the Second Summons's wick I paid, on August
the 26 they Came a gain for six Shillings for the third
Summons's wick I paid, the said that they Summons's all had
been regular served and that Mess: Ayrton & Davis the
Plantiffs attorneys, said that John Pennington< no role > the Plantiff
was indebted to them a Sum of Money, and that they would
not trouble themselves in the Matter in Question, on Augst.
ye 30 they Came again for Money to purchase a Stamp to
Make a Afferdavit on for wick I paid them one Shilling and
seven pence, they then said that they must have half a Crown
to have the Afferdavit ingrosed wick I paid, they then said that
as the Baron was down in the Country that It would for
Coach Hire, Barons Clerk, and Expences, they Could not go if
I did not pay them two Guineas wick I did, but ever since
I paid them the two Guineas I have not seen them, I have
sent sent to Mr. Walker, Baron Hotham's Clerk and that I
find they took out only one Summons for wick [..] aid
only two Shillings
