Thomas Greenland< no role > of Froome in the County
of Somersetshire, Clothier, Maketh Oath and saith,
that he hath for several Years carried on the Business
of a Clothier at Froome aforesaid in a very extensive
Line, and particularly to Furnish the Fairs held at
the respective Cities of Bristol , Exeter Bridgwater
and Woodberry Hill with Cloth, which are, this
Deponent believes the most capital Fairs for the Sale
of Cloth in this Kingdom And this Deponent Further
saith, that he hath always, since his Commencement
of his said Business of a Clothier, except in Case of
Sickness, Personally attended the said several and
respective Fairs held in the Cities aforesaid, and when
it hath happened, he was, by Illness prevented, his
Absence was attended with very great Loss and
Inconvenience to him this Deponent, as his Customers
not seeing him present with his Goods, did not chuse
to deal with his Servants, whereby they went to other
Clothiers who would, if possible, secure their Custom
at Future Fairs And this Deponent Further saith,
that the next Fair for the City of Exeter, will be
held on the sixth day of December next ensuing,
when he intends to Furnish a large Quantity of Cloth
for Sale, And Further saith, that he is generally
a Week preparing for the said Fair, the Distance
between Froome and Exeter being above Eighty
Miles to carry the said Goods to the said Fair, and
if he should not be able personally to attend the same
he is Fully satisfied, his Trade will considerably
suffer for the Future at Exeter Fair And this
Deponent Further saith, that he is willing and
desireous to prosecute the above named Elizabeth
Stephens,
