To The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor< no role > of the City of London And to the rest of his Majestys
Justices of the Peace for the said City at their general Quarter Session of the peace for the said City

The Humble Petition of John Anderton< no role >

Sheweth


That your Petitioner is an Inhabitant of the parish of Saint Leonard
Eastcheap in the City of London

That by a rate of Assessment on the several occupiers of Houses Lands & in
the said Parish of Saint Leonard Eastcheap made and assessed the 7th day of July 1780 for and
towards the necessary releif of the poor of the said parish and for other purposes in the several
Acts of Parliament for the releif of the poor mentioned for the year beginning at the Feast of
Easter 1780 and ending at the same Feast 1781 Your Petitioner is lated and assessed
to pay to the releif of the said poor one shilling and three pence per wich Weekly and
every Week during the said year

That your Petitioner is a day labour in [..] Man and Rents only part of a small
house in about in the said Parish at the Annual Sum of Ten Guineas

That your Petitioner humbly conceives he is aggreived by the said Rate or
Assessment inasmuch that the same is not an equal and equitable Rate according to the
several Rents and the Property of the respective Inhabitants of the said Parish

Your Petitioner therefore most humbly prays Your Worships will Quash
or set asside the said rate or Assessment so far as the same relates to your
Petitioner And grant your Petitioner such further and other releif therein
as to your Worships shall seen just
