Who being on Oath say and first the said Cecilia Brown< no role >
says
that on Wednesday last was sevenigth in the forenoon a
person now present who calls himself George Vevers< no role >
came to
her house in Field Lane
and asked for counterfeit Half pence
and afterwards bought of this Informant a Quantity of them
at a lower rate and Value than by their Denomination they
imported viz fifty four Shillings worth for two Guineas. says
that it was agreed between the said George Vevers< no role >
and this
Informant that he should receive six shillings worth more
of the said counterfeit Halfpence from this Informant at
a future time in order to make it thirty shillings worth
for each Guinea. And said Samuel Collins< no role >
says that
he was in said Mrs. Brown's house< no role >
when said George Vevers< no role >
came in on the said Wednesday morning, and that he heard
said Vevers ask Mrs. Brown of she had any Thirties (meaning
as this Informant and understand thirty shillings worth of counterfeit
Halfpence) [..] when Mrs. Brown replied that she would
get them for him by One o'Clock that day and said Vevers
went away. That between 2 and 3 o'Clock the said Vevers
came again to Mrs. Brown's house< no role >
(and the said counterfeit
Halfpence agreed for as before being packed up ready
for him in a Handkerchief) he observed said Vevers pay
Mrs. Brown a Guinea in Gold and some Silver and
afterwards take the Handkerchief of Halfpence up and
walk away. And the said David Prothero< no role >
for himself
