The King agt. James Elliott< no role >

John Clark< no role > of Denmark Court near the Strand in the County of
Middlesex Gentleman
maketh Oath and saith that on the Sixteenth day of June last the said
James Elliott< no role > was committed to the Gaol of Newgate for feloniously and falsely
making forging and counterfeiting in the City of London a certain Promissory
Note for the Pay ment of Money Purporting to be the Promissory Note of the
Governor and Company of the Bank of England for Payment of Fifty Pounds
to Joseph Crook< no role > or Bearer on Demand dated June 20 1775With Intention
to defrand hisMajesty's Subjects And this Deponent further saith that the said
James Elliott< no role > was apprehended and taken for the Felony saith that the said
by this Deponent at Dover in the County of Kent and that he this Deponent
found in the Custody of the said James Elliott< no role > at the time of his being so
apprehended and taken the Promissory Note mentioned in the said
Commitment And this Deponent further saith that he is advised and verily
beleives that the Felony and Forgery charged against the said James Elliott< no role > in the
said Commitment was perpetrated in the said County of Kent and not in
the City of London .
