George Clement< no role > of the Parish of Christ Church in the County of
Middlesex Gentleman maketh Oath and saith that about 3 weeks [..] or a
Month ago he (at the Request of one Marcus Polak< no role > ) went to Mr. Priddles House
in Chancery Lane London to inquire of the said Mr. Priddle whether he was
not Clerk to a Commission of Bankrupt which issued inHounsditchNovember
1758 against Lewis Oppenhein and Hymen Levy< no role > last of Hounsditch in
the Parish of Saint Botolph Aldgate London Merchants and Copartners
and Mr. Priddle not being at Home he mentioned his Business to Mr. Hughes
who is as Deponent believes either Partner with or Head Clerk to the said
Mr. Priddle and the said Mr. Hughes took it down in Writing and told this
Deponent if he would call again he would in the mean Time speak to
Mr. Priddle and Obtain his answer And this Deponent saith that he
did 2 or 3 days after call at said Mr. Priddles and saw the said Mr. Hughes
Mr. Priddle not being at Home) who told this Deponent that he had
spoke to Mr. Priddle about the before mentioned Business and that Mr.
Priddles Answer was that a Commission of Bankrupt had issued in Novr.
1758 against the said Lewis Oppenhein and Hymen Levy and that he
Mr. Priddle was Clerk to the said Commission and that they were
declared Bankrupts and that they had never surrendered
themselves under the said Commission altho' he (Mr. Priddle) and the
Commissioners had waited at Guildhall at the next Morning till the
Clock at Night for that purpose And this Deponent saith that the said
Lewis oppenhein hath been since apprehended and upon the Information
of the said Marcus Polak. and others committed New Prison for
Feloniously and Wilfully omitting to surrender himself to and to be
examined by and before the major part of the Commissioners in the said
Commission named and Authorized And this Deponent saith that on
or about the Sixth day of February Instant [..] the said Marcus Polak was bound
