maketh Oath and saith that some time
in the Month of March last he this Deponent having reason to suspect that
John Bates< no role >
then Apprentice
to this Deponent had stole some Brass
Work the Property of this Deponent ordered him to be taken into the
Custody of a Constable and the said John Bates< no role >
was afterwards
examined at the Mansion House
before the presentRight
Honourable the Lord Mayor and the said John Bates< no role >
was ordered
to be committed for such Felony and he this Deponent was bound
by Recognizance to prosecute the said John Bates< no role >
at the Session of
the Peace held for this City in April last And this Deponent saith
That before His Lordship had Signed the Commitment he prevailed
upon this Deponent to forgive the said John Bates< no role >
on his promising to
behave well for the future and this Deponent having agreed thereto
the said John Bates< no role >
went home with this Deponent and duly
served the Remainder of his Apprenticeship
in an honest and
faithfull Manner and now works as a Journeyman
with this
Deponent And this Deponent saith that he apprehended and verily
believed that the Recognizance so entred into by this Deponent would
have been Vacated by the Clerk attending his Lordship and therefore
this Deponent did not attend at the Sessions to get the said
Recognizance Discharged by Means whereof the same became
forfeited as this Deponent hath been lately informed and believes.
