Oath and saith that on Wednesday the 22d. day of
June last about the Hour of 5 in the Afternoon the
deced keeping a Publick House at Muzzle Hill
aforesd.
known by the Sign of the Red Lion over took a man, by
Trade a Bricklayer
, named John Cotton< no role >
now in
New Prison
Clerkenwell

who was [..] to the said [..]
at
Crouch End
in the Parish aforesd and asked sd.
Cotton
to pay him a Sum of money which he [..] the [..] deced [..]
[..] who made ansr. that he would never pay
the deced. on which sd. Cotton strucked the deced.
with his Fist; that the deced followed sd. Cotton and
said he would have his money and then sd. Cotton
having an Hammer in his Hand struck the deced
with the sd. Hammer upon the Head over his left
Eye with great Force which stuned the deced
[..] but the deced did not fall down; that
thereupon a Battle [..] behaviour sd. Cotton and
the deced and Cotton was worsted in sd. Battle
and [..] Dept. has been informed and
believes that the deced was soon afterwards sent to
St. Bartholomew Hospital
where he died on Saturday last as Dept.
hath been informed and believes Says he has
Seen the Body of the deced in the dead House
belonging to the said Hospital, and Deponent
is certain that he is the same person of whom he has
given the above Account
