To The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of the City of
London and the Rest of the Worshipful His Majesty's
Justices of the peace for the said City in their General
Session of the Peace assembled.

The humble Petition and Appeal of James

Sheweth


That by a certain Rate or Assessment lately made by the Church
Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Gregory by
Saint Pauls London entitled An Assessment made by the Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Gregory by Saint Pauls
London as a Weekly Rate for the Relief of the Poor of the said Parish
from the Twenty ninth Day of September One Thousand Seven Hundred
and Seventy three to the Twenty fourth Day of December following
Your Petitioner is assessed and charged towards the said Relief in the
Sum of Twenty Shillings for and in Respect of a small Tenement used
by him for a Proctors Office only and also in the Sum of Twelve
Shillings for and in Respect of his Dwelling House.

That Your Petitioner apprehends himself to be aggrieved by
the said Rate or Assessment and therefore humbly appeals to this
Honourable Court against the same and prays Relief in the
Premisses and that the said Rate or Assessment may be quashed
or that the same may be amended in Respect of Your Petitioner as to this Honourable
Court shall seem most meet
