Henry Hase< no role > of Thames Street London Sugar Refiner Maketh
Oath and Saith That he this Deponent on the Twenty third day of
September One thousand seven hundred and Sixty Five Entred into a
Recognizance before me Worshipful Sir Thomas Rawlinson< no role > Knt . one
of the Aldermen and One of the Justices of the Peace for the City of London
to Appear at the Session of the Peace for the said City On Monday the
Fourteenth day of October then next following to Prosecute the Law
with Effect and Give Evidence on a Bill to be Exhibited to the Grand Jury
against William Layton< no role > for privately Stealing from this Deponents
Person a Sinnen Handkerchief Value two shillings And in Case the
Bill was found a true Bill to Appear and Give Evidence at Justice Hall
on the Tryal of such Indictment And this Deponent further saith that
some fewdays before the said Fourteenth day of October He this
Deponent received an Accident by a Half Hundred Iron Weight
falling on his Foot whereby he was very much Bruised And thereby this
Deponent was rendred incapable of Stirring out of his Room for upwards
of a Month during most of which time this Deponents Foot was in
Great Danger of Mortifying whereby this Deponent was rendred entirely
incapable of Appearing at the said Sessions to Prosecute the said
William Layton< no role > for the said Felony pursuant to the said Recognizance
And this Deponent also Saith that had it not been for the above
mentioned Accident this Deponent did Intend to prosecute and should have
Prosecuted the said William Layton< no role > Pursuant to the said Recognizance
without any Favour whatsoever

Old Bailey the 24th.
