London to wit

the Voluntary Examination and Confession of John
Shadwell taken before me Sir Robert Kite< no role > Knight one of his
Majesty's Justices of the Peace ; in and for the said City Who saith that about a year and
a half ago William Ross< no role > spoke to this Examinant to bring him
some odd Top Pieces of Leather from his Master s Daniel Waldron< no role >
Shop , the said William Ross< no role > then working in a Cobbrs Stall in
Bazinghall Street where the said Daniel Waldron< no role > lives,
he accordingly carried several Quantities of Top Pieces to the
said William Ross< no role > , who gave him small Quantities of money
at different times for the same; And this Examinant further
saith that about a Year ago, he was applied to by the said
William Ross< no role > and also by Andrew Ross< no role > his Father s and
requested by them to get some So [..] les of Leather from his Master
the said Daniel Waldron< no role > ; and that in Consequence of
such Applications he this Examinant hath at several
times stolen divers Quantities of Butt and Crop Soles
from the said Daniel Waldron< no role > , not less in Number
within [..] twelve Months now last past than Fifty
three, and hath also stolen divers Quantities of Top
Pieces of the same Leather within the said time, not
less than One Hundred in Number, all of which
Soles and Top Pieces were delivered to the said William
and Andrew Ross< no role > , some part where of were delivered
when both the said Andrew Ross< no role > and William Ross< no role >
were present (they living and working together) other
part there of were delivered [..] when one of them was
absent; And this Examinant further saith that both the
said Andrew Ross< no role > and William Ross< no role > knew that he stole
all the Leather he delivered to them from his said Master
Daniel Waldron< no role > , and constantly gave him greatly under the
Value for all the Quantities of Leather he delivered to them.

this fourth day of October 1764 before me
