Day of November 1762 upon an
Inquisition on View of the Body of
a New born Male Child lying dead
at the parish of Saint Giles Cripplegate
in the Ward of Cripplegate without
London.

Rose< no role > the Wife of John Hall< no role > of Jervin street London Gent .
being sworn and examined upon her Oath saith that May
Samuel
< no role > the Mother of the deced Infant came to live
with Dept. and her Husband about two years ago and
hath continued to live with them as such ever since; that
this Morning abt. 7 o'Clock on Depts. going up the Stairs
leading to the Garret where the sd. Mary Samuel< no role > This name instance is in set 732. This set is in the group(s): MothersOBP . lodged
she observed much Blood upon them [..] and all the way
to the Room where the sd. Samuel lodged that she went
into her Lodging Room & asked her what was the matter
with her to which she made answer that she thought
she shod. die; bad indeed replied Dept. I must fetch
somebody and Dept. immediately went to Mrs. Sarah
BicharaBicarage
< no role > a Midwife taking it forsuspecting
that sd. Samuel had been delivered of a Child; says Mrs.
Bicarage instantly came with her and the Dept. taxed
sd. Samuel with having had a Child, to which she said
no, that she had had no Child, but acknowledged that
something had come from her which she had put down
the Vault, on which the Vault was as soon as possible
searched by a Nightman who soon there found amongst
the Soil the Body of a New born Male Infant that Dept.
saw it present [..] afterwards, thatthere appearedthe
Lip of the Child appeared to be much tore, and the Child
appeared to be full grown: Says sd. Samuel said if it was
a Child it was got by Samuel Gunday< no role > a Fellow [..] Servt. of hers;
that Dept. told her there was a Much upon the Child's Lip &
asked her with what Knife [..] who had cut it with to
wch she made answer she had not made use of Knife
nor done any thing to hint it. Says she asked sd. Samuel if
the Child was born alive, who answered it was not.
