that he this Deponent did on Thursday last go to the House
of William Fletcher< no role >
of the Borough of Southwark
in the County
of Surry
Painter
in Order to Subpena him the said William
Fletcher to Attend and give him Evidence at the Tryal of this
Indictment on this day but this Deponent Saith that he
was then informed by the said William Fletchers< no role >
Wife and
Mother and which he verily believes to be true that he the
said William Fletcher< no role >
that Morning was Admitted as a Patient
into Guy's Hospital
on Account of a Dropsy that he had been
sometime afflicted with and that he was not able to Attend
this Honourable Court this Sessions on the Tryal of the said
Indictment And this Deponent further Saith that he this
Deponent did on Saturday last go to the said Hospital where
this Deponent saw the said William Fletcher< no role >
who appeared to
this Deponent to be very ill and in a very dangerous way
and he informed this Deponent that he was not able to
attend the said Tryal and this Deponent Saith that the
said William Fletcher< no role >
appeared to this Deponent to be very
much Swelled and very bad with a Dropsy and by no means
able to Attend this Honourable Court on the said Tryal and
this Deponent further Saith that the said William Fletcher< no role >
is a Material Witness for the Prosecutors in the said
Indictment and without whose Testimony this Deponent
verily beleives the said Prosecutors cannot Proceed to the
Tryal thereof.
