John Poole< no role > of Golden Lane in the
Parish of Saint Luke Middx Headborough
of the said Parish, on his Oath Saith
that When Lewis Alsop< no role > was apprehendd
and brot. to the Watch House belonging
to the sd Parish, which was Monday the
5th. July at one in the Morning, he this
dept. examined sd Lewis Alsop< no role > touching
the death of Hughes, that he paid he
and his Mother Mary Alsop< no role > & Joseph
Hughes
< no role > had been at Mr. Combes, the
Black Raven in Golden Lane , that they
left that House between eight & nine on
Sunday Evening the 4th instant, that they
went Home to their Lodging to Sun Alley
that Hughes & his Mother quarrelled and
that he beat her very much, that he the sd
Lewis Alsop< no role > took up a Knife which cost
two pence half penny, with the Name How
on the Blade and throw'd it at Hughes, and
saw it stick upon [..] near his breest and
saw the Blood come and ran away, and
dept. Saith he asked sd Lewis Alsop< no role > at what
distance he stood when he threw the Knife
to which he replyed about the distance
front Dept to the Window of the Watch House
which measured between three and four
Yardsdistance.That dept. asked sd. Lewis
Alsop what Cloaths Hughes had on, he
answered a Single Coat and that was buttond
