That Edward the 6th by his Letters Patent bearing Date the 26th.
Day of June in the 7th. Year of his Reign Constituted and Appointed the
Mayor & Comanlty & Citizens of the City of London & their Successors
to be Governors of the Possessions Revenues and Goods of the Hospitals
of Edward King< no role > of England the 6th. of Christ Bridewell & St. Thomas the
Apostle and to be for that purpose a Body Politick & Corporate with
liberty to purchase .

7. Mar. &. 6.

That on the 7th. of March following the Mayor Etc purchased a certain
House & Premises called the Grey Fryars which were part of the dissolved
Monastery of the Grey Friars which sd. Premises are in the Parish of
Christ Church London

That soon after the Mayor Etc Appropriated & converted the said House
& Premisses into an Hospital for the Maintenance and Education of the
Children of poor persons belonging to the City of London called Christ Hospital
That the Governours of the sd. Hopsital in the Year 1583, purchased a
certain Parcell of Ground contiquors to & Adjoining to the said Hospital
which was Parcell of the said dissolved Monastery upon which were then
Standing certain Houses which after the sd. Purchase were Lett out to Tenants
and the Rents arising thereby Appropriated to the Use of the Hospital & so
continued down to the time when the Houses were pulled down as is hereafter
mentioned.

That about the Year 1732 the said Houses being in Decay and it being
found necessary to enlarge the sd Hospital the Houses were by the direction
of the said Governours pulled down and a certain Building called the Sick
Ward built upon the Ground whereon the Houses before Stood, which
Sick Ward now part of the Hospital

{That such Tenants (as Occupiers of sd. Houses) were always rated &
paid towards the Relief of the Poor of said Parish of Christ Church , as
well as all other Parochial & Ward Rates & Assessments & Served
the Several Offices in Comon with the other Inhabitants thereof, down to
said Year 1732 when said Houses were so pulled down and demolished
as aforesaid.

That the Sick Ward is Used for the reception of such of the Children of the
Hospital who become Sick and for no other purpose & that the Governours have
no other Stock or Estate in or Upon the said Sick Ward save & expect the Beds
and other like furniture for the Accomodation of the Sick .
