Francis Leicester< no role > on the Prosecution of
Thomas Barlow< no role > on an Indictment for
Perjury

Francis Leicester< no role > Gentleman the Defendant in the above
Prosecution maketh Oath and Saith That sometime since the above Indictment was
preferred one Nathaniel Wilson< no role > who had lived as a Clerk with this Deponent in Black
Fryers London for the space of about Eight Months last past absconded from this
Deponents Service whilst this Deponent was in the County on Business and never
gave this Deponent [..] before he so left his Servt [..]
And this Deponent Saith that the said Nathaniel Wilson< no role > is the only Material Witness
this Deponent hath to prove the fact in favour of this Deponent without whose Evidence
this Deponent cannot safely proceed to take his Tryal on the above Indictment which
Circumstance the Prosecutor is and must be well acquainted with And this Deponent
further saith That ever since he hath been admitted to Bail on Account of the above
Prosecution He has used all Possible diligence and made the most strickest enquiry after
the said Nathaniel Wilson< no role > both in Town and Country in order to find him out and to have
the benefit of his Evidence but could never learn from the Places where he last lodged
or from his most intimate Friends and Acquaintance where the said Nathaniel Wilson< no role >
could be found but could only learn from the general Inquirys he made That the said
Nathaniel Wilson< no role > had absconded from this Deponents Service on Account of [..]
and to avoid the Inclemency of a Goal and that since he had been gone from this
Deponent that he had been under Confinement for sometime for Debt and as soon
as he got released (which this Deponent did not hear but very lately and within these
few days last past) the said Nathaniel Wilson< no role > told some of his Acquaintance who
informed this Deponent thereof since That the said Nathaniel Wilson< no role > would not venture
to appear again in Publick as a Clerk in London until he could be Enabled to make his
Creditors easy in respect to their several Debts And that he hoped he should be able in
a Month or Two's time to find Friends to enable him so to do but that in the mean
time he must be Obliged to keep secret till he could make his Affairs easy And this
Deponent further saith That Yesterday and on his very day he this Deponent did
go to several Places the most likely to enquire after the said Nathaniel Wilson< no role > and particularly did
go to a House where he last lodged in Butcher Hall Lane London but could
not hear from his Landlord any certain Account where to find him and at the same
time promised to make his said Landlord and others sufficient Satisfaction for
his and their Trouble on using their endeavours to said him out and to give this
Deponent Intimation thereof And this Deponent further saith That he hath
never once seen the said Nathaniel Wilson< no role > since he left this Deponent's Service
(who went away greatly in this Deponent's Debt for Cloaths and other Necessary
neither hath my of this Deponent's Family as they have informed this Deponent
tho'. the most diligent inquiry hath been made for that purpose not only by
