The Examination of Joseph Johns< no role > taken before
me Thomas Rawlinson< no role > Esquire and Alderman
and one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace
of the City of London this twenty fourth Day
of September 1747

This Examinant on his Oath Saith that last Night
about ten o Clock as he was going this Cavendist Court in
his Stay to his Lodgings in prescott street he was assaulted
by two Men who this Examinant imagines were Jews the
one in a light coloured Coat [..] with his Hat slappd
the others in a dark coloured Coat who sweres at him and
bid him deliver upon which they Seized hold of his Watch
with two Silver Cases the Maker Name Ward and also
two Seat which hung to his Watch string being on
Orange coloured Ribbon [..] one of the Seats was Steele
whereon with ingraved three Daws as the Arms and
Spread Eagle as the Crest theither with Metal with an
Egyptian Pebble whereon was ingraved a Rose with a
Star over it upon which this Examinant cryed out Stop
Thief whereupon immediately once of them (who this
Examinant to [..] the person in the light Dress
made a Push at him with a Sword which pierced into
his [..] Right [..] east and penetratede to his back
Bone whereby the Sword was broken and part of it about
the lenghth of nine Inches lodged in his Body [..]
