to wit.


WHEREAS Sarah Harper< no role > Singlewoman was, on or a
bout the 26th. day of Feby. last delivered of a Male
Bastard Child
in the Parish of St. Botolph without Aldgate London, which
said Male Bastard Child, is already become Chargeable to the said Parish,
and is likely so to continue; therefore we whose Hands are hereunto set,
two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the City of London and Liberties
thereof (one being of the Quorum) and both of us residing next unto the
Limits, where the Parish-Church of the said Parish of St. Botolph wth out
Aldgate London, standeth, having
upon the Complaint of the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of
the Parish aforesaid, taken upon us the Hearing and Examination of the
Cause and Circumstances of the Premises, Do find by the Examination
of the said Sarah Harper< no role > taken upon her Oath, that one Robert Herne< no role >
Apprentice to his Father [..] Thomas Herne< no role > of the Minories Ironmonger is the Father
of the said Male Bastard Child, whereupon we do adjudge that
he the said Robert Herne< no role > is the reputed Father of the said Male Bastard
Child, and we do Order that the said Robert Herne< no role > shall on Notice
of this our Order, pay, or cause to be paid, unto the Church-Wardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of St. Botolph without Aldgate
London, some, or one of them, the Sum of Four Pounds
one Shilling and Six pence of lawful Money of Great-Britain, so
much being by them already expended for and towards the Maintenance of the
said Male Bastard Child,and [..] Charges and Expences, and
also that he the said Robert Herne< no role > shall on Tuesday in every
Week, from and after the Date hereof, so long as the said Male
Bastard Child shall continue chargeable to the said Parish, pay, or Cause
to be paid unto the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
said Parish, or to one of them, the Sum of Two Shillings and Six Pence
of like lawful Money, for and towards the Maintenance and keeping of the
said Male Bastard Child. In Witness whereof, we the said Justices have
unto this Our Order, set our Hands this 20th Day of March 1743
