11th. Octor. 1740 made Diligent inquiry at all or most of the Publick Houses
in Rose mary Lane alld at two Bakers and several other Shops in the sd.
Lane and was informed that there was no such person as John Carnes< no role >
who kept a publick house in the sd. Lane to their Knowledge or belief but
one of the Bakers said there was one Carnes who formerly lived in
wragg fair but where [..] is now gone to dont know
