The Report of Sr John Ward< no role > Knt &
Alderman and Robt. Heysham< no role > Esqr . & Alderman
upon an Order of Referrence made to them at the General
Sessions of the peace held for the City of London in the
month of August 1721 and continued by and Order of the
said Court in July 1722.

Pursuant to an Order of Sessions made on the 28th
day of August 1721 (and continued in July 1722) at Guild hall London
by the Justices of Peace then Sitting upon an Appeal made by the
Church Wardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of St Albans
Wood Street London Exhibited to the Said Court in July 1721 against a
Rate of Forty Shillings Assessed on them at the Said Quarter Sessions
for and towards the Relief of the poor of the parish of Allhallows on
the Wall London by virtue of the Statute made in the 43d year of the
Reign of the late Queen Elizabeth We whose names are Subscribed
two of the Refences nominated and appointed by the Said Order
Have this 28th day of November 1722 perused and Examined the
State of the Accounts and the Books of Poors Rates of the Several parishes
of St Albans Wood Street St Martin Orgars and St George Botolph
Lane and also of the Said parish of Allhallows on the Wall and have
heard the Several Allegations of the Church Wardens and Overseers of
the poor of the Said Several parishes And upon a full hearing of all the
Said parties and a due Examinacon & perusal of the Said Books and
Rates We think it reasonable that St Albans Wood Street Should be
Relieved upon their Petition against the Said Rate of Forty Shillings
for that the Inhabitants of the Said parish Seem to be Rated as high
in their poors Rate as that of Allhallows on the Wall and by what
appears to us the Said parish of St Albans Wood Street are not in a
Condicon to contribute towards the Relief of That or any other parish
But then we desire that the Inhabitants of St Albans Wood Street
will make it appear to the Court by proper Affidavits That their poors
Rates are Assessed for the Relief of the poor only because one part of
their petition complains of an Expence in Repairing & beautifying
their Church and it does not appear to us whether the Said Expence
is included in their poors Rate And further we do not find
that the said Sum of Forty Shillings ought to be laid on the
said parished of St Martin Orgars & St George Botolph Lane
