The humble peticon of the Churchwardnes &
Overseers of the poor of him parish of st Buttolph
without Aldgate London

Sheweth

That whereas one Edward Johnson< no role > hath rented an house of
£10 P ann in nor Petr said Parish & hath pd scott & Lott to
the same & still continues an Inhabitants therein with his wife and
three Children and the sd Edward Johnson< no role > she Father lately
becomeing a Bankrupt & being reduced to great Necesisty and
poverty is unable to Maintaine & provided for Maintained
at the Expence of yor Petrs said Parish But Now soe it is that
one Rebecca Jones< no role > of the parish of St. Dunstans in the East
widow being grandmother of the sd three Children & of good
Substance and ability ought by Law to Provide for her said
three Grandchildren and not burthen yor Petr with the
Charge thereof and haveing been required by yor Petrs to
take care of Etc maintaine her sd Grandchildren as by Lane
She ought, Nevertheless she yet refuseth so to Doe.

Therefore Yor. Petrs humbly pray yor
Lorppe & Worpps to hear them in the
Prmisses & alsoe order the sd Rebecca
Jones< no role > forthwith to appeare before you &
to shew cause why she should not provide
for her sd Grandchildren as the Law in yt
Case Directs and alsoe to hear & abide
the determination of Yor Lorppe & Worpps
therein
