Petiton St. Brott Aldgate

To the Right Honoble. Sr . Samuell Gerrard< no role > Barnll. Lord Maior of the
City of London and to the Rt. Worpll. the Rest of her Maties. Justices of
the Peace [..] the same Citty in the Generall Quarter Sessions assembled

The humble Petiton of the Appeale of the Churchwardens Overseers of the poore
of the Parish of St Buttolph without Aldgate London

Sheweth


That Whereas one Edward Johnson< no role > is new and for sometime past hath been an Inhabitant
with his wife and three Children in your petitioners said parish of St. Buttolph Aldgate
And whereas the said Edward Johnson< no role > by severall lessed and misfortune is reduced to
great Usufully and Poverty into much that he is not capable to maintaine and provide
for his said more Children but hath left them to be provided for and mantained at the
expence of your Petitioners said Parish But now so it is that one Rebecca Jones< no role > of
the Parish of St Dunstans in the East Wid . being Grandmother of the said three Children
and of good substance and Ability ought by law to provide for her said three Grand children
and not burthen your Petitoners with the Charge therof and haveing been required
by your Petitioners to take care of and maintain her sd Grandchildren as by law she ought
St [..] eatheless the yett refusth so to doe.

Wherefore Your Petitionrs. humbly Pray Your Honr. & Worpps.
to hear them in the Prmisses And alsoe Order the said Rebecca Jones< no role >
forthwith to appeare to before you and to Shew cause why they should not
Provide for the sd Grandchildren as the Law in that Case direct to And also
to heare and abide the determination of Your Honr. & Worpps. therein

And Your Petitioners Shall Ever Pray Etc.
