This Exaiate Saith That hee doth not know that the house of Thomas
Carpentar< no role >
in Chick Lane
in ye sd parish of St: Sepulcher
London was broak
open & that if it was broak open, & any Stiees or other Goods were Stollen
from thence, hee was no way concernd therein: And this Exaiate further
Saith That between Seven & Eight of ye Clock in ye Morning of Monday wch was the
Twenty first day of April in Stant hee met One Thomas Williams< no role >
upon the
Road leading from ye parish of St: James Clerkenwell
to Islington
with: Sd Williams
told this Exaeate that hee had Twelve or fourteen pair of St [..] oos
to Sell, & that if hee
this Exaiate would Sell them for him hee should have part of ye Money:
& thereupon the sd Williams went into an empty house nigh ye New River
head
in ye sd parish of St: James Clerkenwell
, & brought three pair of
Shoos to this Exaiate, who went into Hatton Garden
& there preffer'd One
pair of ye sd Shoo's to Sale, & that being appe hended there on Sussricon of
having Stollen yesd Shoos, hee went along wth ye two persons who had So
apprhended him, & showd them ye house out of wch ye sd Shoo's had been
brought to him as aforesd, where they found Eleven pair of Shoo's
