The Informacon of John Web< no role > of ye Parish of St: Sepulcher London Cordwainer
taken upon Oath this Twenty Second day of April Anno Domini 1707 before
me Joseph Short< no role > Esqr: One of her Mates: Justices of ye peace for ye County of Middx
This Informt: Saith That between ye hours of Eight & twelve of ye Clock last
Sunday Night ye house of Mr Thomas Carpenter< no role > in Chick Lane in ye parish aforesd
was brook open, & fourteen pair of Mens & Womens Shoos were Stollen out of
ye Shop of ye sd house: & that upon last Monday Morning hee this Informant &
One Richard Stratford< no role > being informd that a person unknwon was preffering to
sell a pair of Shoos in Hatton Garden went thither where this Informt Saw ye
sd Shoos & knowing them to bee a pair of ye Shoos wch were Stollen as aforesd
hee & the sd Richd Stratford< no role > Seis'd ye sd person whose name is John Whittingham< no role >
[..] & who had preffer'd them to Sale: & thereupon
ye sd Whittingham carryd this Informt: & ye sd Richd Stratford< no role > to an old empty
house night ye River head in ye parish of St: James Clerkenwell & there this
Informt. & ye sd Stratford found Eleven pair of ye Shoos wch. had been Stollen
as aforesd, & afterwardtheupon Search two pair of ye Shoos Stollen as
aforesd were found in ye Breeches of ye sd Whittingham [..] all wth this
Informt: the better knows becaus hee is Apprntice to ye sd Thomas-
Carpenter
