Overseeres of the Poore and other the Inhabitants of the
Parish of St. John Zachary
London made before us whose
hands and Seales are herein to Sett Two of her Maties
Justices of the Peace for the Said Citty and next to the Pish
Church of St. John Zachary
aforesaid (Quor unus) touching

lately delivered of a
Male Bastard Child within the said Parish who are now
become chargeable to the said parish: Wee the said Justices
haveing taken upon us the heareing the said Complaint, and
the Exaiacon of the Cause thereof doe find by the Corporall
Oath of the said

and the concurring testimony

did in the
time of her extremity accuse and charge one

liveing in Holborne
to be the true Father of the
said Male Bastard Child, and the said
Eleanor Pagett< no role >
upon her Corporall Oath hath further declared that noe
other person whatsoever hath ever had the casuall
knowledge of her body, but only him the said

And for these and other due proofes & convincing
circumstances us hereunto moveing wee doe ordr and
adjugde him the said Thomas Buttler< no role >
to be there puted
Father of the said Male Bastard Child borne of the
body of the said Eleanor Pagett< no role >
as aforesaid in the
Parish of St. John Zachary

And thereupon wee doe order at well for the releife
and to save harmless the said Parish of St. John Zachary
and the Inhabitants thereof as for the mainteining and
keeping of the said Male Bastard Child, That the
said Thomas Buttler< no role >
shall forthwith upon sight of
this ordr. (a true Coppy hereof being delivered unto him)
pay or cause to be paid to the said Churchwardens and Overseers
of the Poore of the said Parish for and towards the charge
of the lying Inn of the said Eleanor Pagett< no role >
the Sume of
Term Shillings P weeke for the first four weekes from
the birth of the said Male Bastard Child, and after
the expiration of the first four weekes the said Thomas
Buttler< no role >
shall weekely and every weeke likewise pay or
cause to be paid the sume of two shillings and Six pennse
of lawfull money of England
to the Churchwardens and
overseeres of the Poore
of the said Parish for the time being
