A Case agreed on, upon hearing of an Appeals, of ye.
Churchwardens & Overseers of St. Mary Magdalen Bermondsey
in ye. County of Surrey from an Order made by two
Justices of ye. Peace of ye City of London , to remove
three Children of one Giles Lake< no role > , from ye. parish of
St. Botolphs Aldgate in London, unto ye sd parish of
Bermondsey .

Giles Lake< no role > being Settled in Bermondsey , & having three Small
Children, in September 1696 goes into ye. Sd Pish of Aldgate,
& there takes a back shop part of a messuage, in wch. Shop were
Severall Utensils for ye. trade of a Currier , worth about six
pounds to be Sold, he took likewise a Kitchin, two Chambers,
& a Garrott in ye. Same house, at ye. yearly rent of twelve
pounds, There was no way to ye. Kitchin, Chambers or
Garrott, but thro ye. comon door of ye. house, but there was
another passage in ye. day time, only to ye. Shop. The sd Giles
Lake< no role > Served great part of his Apprenticeship in ye. same
Shop but before his time was out, his Master removed
into Bermondsey , & haveing served ye rest of his time
there, Lake gott a Settlemt. And in erabt ye sd moneth of September last took
ye. Said Shop, chambers, Kitchin & Garrott, in Aldgate
at twelve pounds yearly rent, & used his trade there
Six months, & then run away.

Quere whither this does not make Such a Settlement in
Aldgate, that ye Church Wardens & Overseers there,
Shall be forced to provide for ye. Said Lake's three
Children.
