The Information of Esther Stephen Wife of
James Stephen< no role > of Holywell Street Piece broker, Mary
Fildew
< no role > Wife of Bartholomew Fildew of No 12 Bell
Yard Temple Bar Shoemaker , and Richard
Simmons
< no role > one of the Constables of Saint Mary
le Strand taken on Oath before me this 17th. day
of August 1789.

Who being on Oath severally say and first the said
Esther [..] Stephen for herself says that on Saturday night last about
Nine oClock as she was Standing in her Shop and the black Silk Cloak
and Pettycoat now produced hanging in the Shop and the Shop door
Open, She saw a hand (but whether Mans or Womans she Cannot
Say) take said Cloak and Pettycoat down and Run away with it
When she went out and Called Stop Thief, and that after the Prisoner
now present who calls herself Catharine Hussey< no role > was Secured, the
black Silk Cloak and Pettycoat was given to her by a Man whom
She believes Picked it up and that she gave said Cloak and
Pettycoat to the said Richard Simmons< no role > the Constable And the
said Mary Fildew< no role > for herself says that she saw the Prisoner
Run from the said Mrs. StephensShopdoor at that time and
after going about forty Yards She saw her drop something black
which she beleives to be the Cloak and Pettycoat now produced And
the said Richard Simmons< no role > for himself says that the Cloak and Pettycoat
now produced by him are the same he received from the said Esther Stephens< no role >
at that time
