Who says that in May Session 1781 he was tried at the Old
Bailey
with one William Ives< no role >
for robbing one Robert Johnson< no role >
upon the Highway for which offence he was Capitally
Convicted and received sentence of Deaththat on or a about
the 21st. day of July then next following he (with several others)
were removed from Newgate to New Prisoner Clerkenwell
under and by Virtue of an Order or Commitment under the
Hand and Seal of William Crichton< no role >
Esquire then Sheriff
of the County of Middlesex
, his Execution having been respited
till further signification of his Majestys PleasureAnd he
further says that on or about the Twenty Seventh Day
of October in the same Year he made his Escape from
New Prison
, and now Voluntarily and of his Own Accord
Surrenders himself
