Road Labourer
taken before me this 4th. day of August
1788.
Who being upon Oath says that about Six o' Clock this
Evening this Informant was in Covent Garden
market
at which time the person now present
who calls himself William Wilkins< no role >
with a
large Stick in his Hand at the Head of about twelve
or eighteen Persons came into Covent Garden
That
said Wilkins said [..] did not card for any of
Hoods Party That soon after a person in Company
with said Wilkins struck a Man upon the Head
and [..] knocked him down That when
said Man lay upon the ground said Wilkins
Struck him upon the loins with the Stick he
said Wilkins had in his hand saying at the
same time "Dam [..] him we will kill him"
That Informant immediately applied to the
Peace Officers and caused said Wilkins to be secured
This Informant further says that it was generally
reported that said Man was dead.
