The Information of
Thomas Hawkins< no role >
of No.6 King Street
Seven Dials
Coachmaker
taken before me this 29th. day of January 1787.
Who being on oath Saith that as he was
standing in the one Shilling Gallery in Covent
Garden
Theatre on Saturday Night he felt the
Hand of somebody in his Right Hand Breeches
Pocket that the Person now present Who calls
himself George Brace< no role >
at the same time was
crushing upon him That knowing he had nothing
in that Pocket he desired him to get at a greater
distance that he soon after felt a second attempt
at his left Hand Pocket That he immediately put
his our Hand down and found his Breeches Pocket
turn'd inside out and his Money gone when he seized the Prisoner and
accused him with having pick'd his Pocket And
this Deponent further says that being informed by
some of the Company that they heard the Chink of
the Money fall upon the ground and as soon as
the play was over he returned to the Gallery and
upon the very spot where the Prisoner and this
Informant stood he found all his Money except
one halfpenny that had been taken out of his said
Pocket and that he verily believes the Prisoner
was the Powon
who feloniously stole his Money as
aforesaid.
Sworn before me this
