taken before
me this 31st. day of May 1787
Who being upon Oath saith That about ten
Minutes part twelve o'Clock on Sunday Morning
the Twentieth of May Instant as he was going home
he was attacked by two Soldiers
dressed as though
upon Guard and each armed with a bludgeon
near the Sign of the Water Works
in the lower
Road leading from Pimlico
to Chelsea
That a
pew on now present who calls himself Samuel
Steele< no role >
he is very sure was one of the said Man and
who first struck this Informant upon his Head with
his bludgeon and at the same time presented
Knife That said Steele's Companion who is a
little Man then robbed this Informant of his Watch
and said Steele robbed this Informant of his Money
amounting to a Guinea and half in Gold Fifteen
Shillings in Silver and as he believes since half pence
That said little Man desired said Steele to run
this Informant through the Body but upon this
Informant saying he was a Stranger and strongly
unportuning them not to hurt him they let him
go the said Steele first stricking him on the
Shoulder
