The Information of Samuel Done< no role >
of Phenix Street in the parish of Saint Giles
in the fields Tinman Taken the 9th. day of
June 1787

Who upon his Oath Saith That on the first day of
May last about the hour of one o'Clock in the
Morning as he was coming through Saint Giles's
and near Drury Lane he was met by a Man now in
Custody who says his Name is Cornelius Cartey< no role >
and walked with him as far as Hog Lane That
he was then for parting to get away from him but
the said Cartey forced him to go to a public House to
Drink with him That they went thro a passage to a
public House which happened to be Shut up
and the said Cartey was bringing him back through
the same passage and about the Middle thereof he
Knocked him down and said if he offered to make any
Resistance he would Cut his Guts open That the said
Cartey then Robbed him as he laid on the Ground of
Four Shillings and Six pence which he took out of
his Right Hand Breeches pocket and also of his
Hat and then ran away. That he called the Watchman
and Two patroles Came up who went with him in
pursuit of Cartey but they Could not find Him That on the
next day he gave Information to Meacham and Fredway &
gave a Description of the prisoners person to them and on the
6th. June Instant he was informed that the person he so gave
Information of was taken and he Came directly and saw the prisoner
with some other and he immediately knew him to be the same person on who
had Robbed him as abovementioned
