Plumber Taken this 13th. day of January 1786 before me
One of his Majestys Justices of the peace in and for the
said County

Who being on their Oaths severally and respectively say and first the said
John Lambert< no role > for himself Saith that between the hours of five and six O Clock
in the Afternoon of Wednesday the Eleventh of January Instant, as he was
Standing the Corner of Denmark Street he saw the prisoner James Davis< no role > and
a Stant Youth and a man about his own Size standing together hearing a
Song at the Corner of Denmark Street aforesaid. That they soon after Seperated
the prisoner and the man going along the Highway and the [..] Youth Crossing over
the other side of the way, That having seen the same three Persons about half
Past two O Clock the same Afternoon, and Entertaining a suspicion that they
were upon no Good her Curiosity induced him to watch them. when he saw the
prisoner and the man pass and repass the Shop of Informant Bevan four time
That some short time after he saw the prisoner Davis and the man coming towards
Denmark Street and turned up the said Street. (Informant at that time being
on the Apposite side of the said Street) and perceiving them Husting something
between them he Crossed over the way towards them and when he came within
a few yards of them the man ran away but on his going up to and laying
hold of the prisoner Davis he dropt the piece of Lead now produced on the
Ground and on his laying hold of hing he Offered him half a Guinea to let him as saying he might have Children of his Own And the said Thomas Edwards< no role > for himself Saith that as he was
Crossing Denmark Street at the time abovementioned he saw Information Lambert
have hold of the prisoner Davis by the Collar and was Calling out for help
at which time Informant ran towards them but before he got to them he saw
the prisoner drop the piece of Lead now produced. That when he come up to
them he heard the prisoner Davis Offer Informant Lambert [..] half a Guinea to let him go

And the said William Bevan< no role > for himself Saith that about Twenty
Minutes part five on Wednesday Evening last he Missed the piece of Lead
now produced and which had been then recently Stolen from his Shop
in Consequence whereof he set out in order to see and Enquire if he could
hear any thing of it and when he got to the Corner of Denmark Street he
saw the prisoner in Custody of Informant Lambert and the Lead lying
on the Ground which he took up and brought to the Public Office Shadwell
