me this 1st. day of December 1786

Who being on Oath severally say and first the said Fenton Clarkson< no role >
for
himself saith that the person now present and calling himself Francis
Fowker< no role >
came into his House in New Street
aforesaid Yesterday aftenoon
about two o Clock and court into a Back Parlour in which parlour at
that time were a great Coat and a Pair of Boots the Property of
Joseph Inshaw< no role >
of Birmingham
and further says he verily believes
the Great Coal and pair of Boots now produced by the said Joseph
Whitaker< no role >
are the same which won in his said Parlour and that
they were stolen from thence by the Prisoner Francis Fowkes< no role >
And the said Joseph Whitaker< no role >
for himself saith that Yesterday afternoon
about three o' Clock he and the said Thomas Conn< no role >
went into the back
Parlour of the Green Man
in new Street
aforesaid to drink a pint of
Beer in which Parlour was the Prisoner and at another part of said
Room lay the Great Coal and pair of Boot now Produced That after
drinking two pints of Beer Mr. Conn and this Informant last the Room
over from Mr. Clarkson's having been before Robbed and suspecting the
Prisoner they determained to watch him and for that purpose waited in
an adjoining passage and cooked through a Sash of a door thro' which
the Informant observed said Francis Fowkes< no role >
go to a bupboard in said
Parlour open the door thereof and Street it again without taking any
thing out That thinking he could dritinguest what said Fowkes was
doing more clearly he went into the Yard in order to look through the
Parlour Window but finding he had not a sight of said Fowkes he
returned again into said Passage where he was informed by said Mc. Conn
that said Fowkes had tied something up in a Handkerchief and shortly
after which said Fowkes coming out of said Parlour with a Bundle
under his Aron that he followed him across New Street
into Bedford
Bury
and in the Hop Gardens secured him with said Bundle which
contained the Great Coat and pair of Boot now produced And the
said Thomas Conn< no role >
for himself saith that he went into the look Parlour
of the Green Man
aforesaid as stated by said John Whitaker< no role >
and that
whilst said Mr. Whitaker was gone into the Yard in order to look through
