Who being on Oath saith that about three Weeks ago by
the advice of Mr. Clark of the Public Office Bow Street
he met the
Prisoner now present and calling himself Thomas Chambers< no role >
at the Castle
at the bottom of Saffron Hill
for the purpose of
purchasing counterfeit Silver That said Chambers asked this
Informant if he would have any (Meaning counterfeit silver)
That Informant replied he had but title Money but that he
would take five Shillings worth on which said Chambers delivered
to him the seven counterfeit Shillings now produced for which he
paid him the five shillings which said Mr. Clark had advanced
to him this Informant to purchase the sameThat he this
Informant informed said Mr. Clark what he had doneThat said
Mr. Clark desired him to apprehend said Chambers which he
accordingly did on Monday last about three o'Clock at the Sir John
Falstaff Alehouse
in Old Street
That Informant put said Chambers
into a Hackney Coach to take him to the Public Office in
Bow Street
and in going along he this Informant observed
said Chambers take from his Coal Pocket the vial now produced
containing aqua Forlis and the counterfeit shilling also now
produced which he endeavoured to conceal by the side of the
