Informations of Witnessess severally taken and acknowledged
on the behalf of our Sovereign Lord the King touching the Death of
Jane< no role > the Wife of Alexander Reed< no role > at the Dwelling House of Ann
Roper
< no role > known by the Sign of the Valiant
Trooper in Goodge Steal in the parish of Saint Pancras
in the County of Middlesex on
Thursdaythe twelfthDay of October in the
twenty sixthYear of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King
George the third before [..] William Wilson< no role > one of the Majesty's
Coroners for the said County on an Inquisition then and there
taken on View of the Body of the said Jane Reed< no role >
then and there lying Dead as follow to wit.

Jane< no role > the Wife of Thomas Godfrey< no role > of No. 56 John Street Tottenham
Court Road Chandler upon her Oath Saith that the deceased lodged with
Deponent that Yesterday about two O Clock Deponent was in her
parlour behind her Shop and heard a Noise in the deceaseds Room
which was up tow pair of Stairs as if persons were quarrelling
upon which Deponent ran up Stairs and a Mrs. Sarah Gibson< no role >
who lodged in the one pair of Stairs met Deponent. and Said
to her break his Reck down Stairs (meaning Francis Sharley< no role >
a Pot boy belonging to John Colville< no role > a publican in Colville Con [..]
John Street ) and said She would do it herself had she been
dressedDeponent then ran up to the deceaseds Room
and there saw the said Francis Shurley< no role > with his two hands fired
on the deceaseds breast who was standing at the Door after Room
with her Cap offas soon as deceased seen Deponent She
said to ShurleyYou Villian what did you strike me for". he
replied he did not, deceased said he didDeponent asked
him what he mean't by stricking her and seized him by the
Shoulders and bid him go down Stairs he desired Deponent to let
him alone twice and Said if she did not he would serve
her the same (meaning as Deponent supposes the same (but would
she could not then tell) that he had served the deceased).
