and that if he this Examinant would represent himself as John Campbell< no role >
Lientt . of the late 3rd. Battn: of the 60th. Regiment of foot" they should
be able to take him in, and get some Money from him, to which this
Examinant consented and that in Consequence thereof said Darby
and Examinant entered into an agreement with said Teasdale to sell Thirty pounds
a Year of this Examinants half pay and this Examinant further
confesseth that he executed the Warrant of Attorney now produced
purporting to be the Power of Attorney of "John Campbell< no role > Lieut:
Late 3rd. Battn: 60th: of foot, bearing date the 3rd. of June 1786
constituting and appointing Mary Strathandra< no role > of Cock Lane Shoreditch ,
Widow and James Griffiths< no role > of Doctors Commons Ventner , his true
and lawful Attorney to receive from the Pay Master General of his
Majestys Forces, all such pay as shall become due and payable
to him as a reduced Lieutenant in said Battalion of said Regiment
in order to inable the said Mr. Teasdale to receive for [..] him
the sum of One Hundred and eighty pounds which was agreed to
be the purchase of the said Annuity and this Examinant further
saith that he never had a Commission in said Battalion and
that he this Examinant was induced to execute the said
Power of Attorney by the Persuasions of the said William
Ross Darby
