Who being on Oath Says This night Eight Weeks the Prisoner
present who says his name is Thomas Evans< no role >
came to lodge in the
house of her said husband situate as aforesaid at Eighteen pence a Week for a Room
furnished with a Bed to lay by himself to pay Every Week informing her
That he was Porter
to the Inn known by the sign of the Dolphin
in Bishopsgate
Street
Says when he came it was a little past Ten o Clock And that she
took a Clean Street and went and put it on the said Bed and took one of
the Sheets that was on said Bed and came down Stairs with it when her
said Husband took a Candle and lighted him to BedSays there was
no other person in the said House but her Husband herself and the said

further says between the hours of Five and six the
next Morning Her Husband and self heard the fore door of the said
house open when her said husband open'd their Room door near to the Street
door when she saw the said Thomas Evans< no role >
at the said Door with his left hand
Coat Pocket bulging out which [..] caused her to Suspect he had Stolen something
says she desired her husband to stop him instead of which he run up Stairs into the
Room where the said Thomas Evans< no role >
had eachdayand called Oh my Godsays she get up
and ran into the Street in hopes of seeing him to have him taken but his being out
of Sight she returned went up Stairs into the said Room where said Thomas Evans< no role >
slept when she missed the pair of Sheets which were on said Bed and her Black
Silk hat with a Pink Lening Says she never saw him the Thomas Evans< no role >
since she saw him this day
in this house. That she is very certain her is the very same person who came to lodge
as aforesaid at her said husbands and went away as aforesaid and as there are but
Two Rooms in the said house One that the said Thomas Evans< no role >
lay in And that
which her and her said husband lay she has not a Doubt but he is the person
who took the said Sheets and hat

Wife in the said house consisting only of Two Rooms. The whole of the said night unless

let some person unknown to him into said house says the next Morning
about half past five he heard the said Thomas Evans< no role >
unbelting theHardStreet Door that
he got up and unlocked his own door when he saw him at the front door who asked
if it was much after six says he bed the said Thomas Good Morning when his said wife
called out his Pocket bulged out and bid him Stop him Says he went up Stairs
when he called out Oh my God [..] the Streets are gone that his Wife ran
into the Street and soon returned and Examined what had been taken who
when she comedown Stairs told this Informant her hat was taken as well as the
Sheets Says he is positive the said Thomas Evans< no role >
is the Very person who laid at
his house as aforesaid and that he has not a Doubt but that he took his said
Sheets and his wifes hat
