Receive into your Custody the Body of Thos. Lake< no role > herewith sent
you brought before one Sir Sampson Wright< no role > Knt . One of his Majestys
Justices of the Peace in and for the said County by Thomas Carpmeal< no role >
and charged before me the said Justice upon the Oaths of George
Slater< no role > and John Morritt< no role > for being Accessary after the Fact that is
to say by relieving Comforting and Assisting one John Lake< no role > well
Knowing the said John Lake< no role > to have feloniously Assaulted George
Slater< no role > on the Kings Highway in the County of the Town of Hull
in the County of York put him in fear and feloniously taken from
his Person a certain Mail called the Hull Mail in which Letters are
sent and conveyed by the Post containing several Letters Packets
Bags and Mails of Letters against the Peace Etc. Him therefore
Safely keep in Your said Custody until he shall be discharged by
due Course of Law and for so doing this shall be your Sufficient
Warrant Given under my Hand and Seal this 23d. day of January
one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Six .
